Blog #3

I think that this quote 'Better is one's own duty imperfectly carried out than following perfectly the law of another. Better is death in the fulfillment of one's own law, for to follow another's law is perilous.' relates to Holden because of how he likes to think of others as fake or not themselves. I think that this quote “About all you can do in life is be who you are. Some people will love you for you. Most will love you for what you can do for them, and some won't like you at all.” connects to Holden because again he thinks of people as fake and judges them but never really get into detail about himself.

Blog #2

After reading chapter five I started to feel bad for Holden because of his death of his brother. I feel that Holden really misses his bother even though he like to act that he is not. Some impressions that I saw change in Holden were that he swear less and was very descriptive. Holden dealt with the death of his brother by anger and being reckless. What stuck out to me during this chapter is that Holden has a soft side and that he really cares about other people. I can relate to Holden a lot during this chapter because of the death of family members.

The Catcher in the Rye

I think that Holden is very complex. After reading only four chapters I can already see a lot of Holden's life and that Holden had a tough life. I think that Holden has a way with people and making them think different about him for example in this quote Holden sucks up to Mr. Spenser “Well, you could see he really felt pretty lousy about flunking me. So i shot the bull for a while. I told him i was a real moron, and all that stuff.” pg.12. I think that Holden had a hard time befriending people but also knows how to be polite. I feel somewhat bad for Holden but then again I don't because I'm not sure what he has done or where he is at.
